Are yellow-Throated vireos still a possibility at this time of year ?
At Second Marsh, I saw a bird perched in a low shrub along the Berm Trail. I was viewing it from the back, although it was turned on a slight angle. It looked, at first, like a goldfinch ( Black wings with obvious white on them). However the bill was thin compared to the Goldfinch. It's head and nape were green; Chest was bright yellow. Seemed to have two thin white wing bars. No view of the belly or vent and tail seemed to be dark ( kind of blended in with wings) . I did not see any spectacles but I wasn't looking for them either. The only other possibility I have thought of is a hooded warbler ( imm.) but the bird I saw wasn't hyperkinetic like most warblers :) ; Not enough white on the wings either.
Just want to know if I'm out to lunch or if there is another possibility that I am overlooking. Thanks
