Red-winged Blackbird ATTACK!

I was cycling over the Credit River bridge in Port Credit when I noticed a Red-winged Blackbird land on the railing of the bridge, which I found odd since usually these birds prefer trees. It was squawking wildly. As I cycled past, it flew up into the air and circled me!! It kept dive bombing at my head for several meters!! It would circle me and then dive at my head (luckily I had my helmet on), even though there were several other pedestrians, cyclists, and inline skaters in the same area. It followed me for quite a distance and I was quite relieved when it decided to fly in the other direction.

I was walking along the path beside Grenadier Pond the other day and saw a RWB fly up and peck someone on the head.  Mind you, it's nothing compared to what the folks go through who band raptors on the nest.  (Such attacks are rare, but they must carry quite a wallop!)

When we were at the Beare Wetlands, we saw an irate Red-winged Blackbird attacking and chasing 2 Turkey Vultures. It was hard for the two birds to escape it.

There's a few marshes where everytime a crow flys over, it gets attacked by one RWBB after the next. Kinda funny to watch. I've seen as many as 5 or 6 RWBB's attacking the same crow.

Same thing happens with the Northern Harrier at Second Marsh.
