Directions off of the QEW or 403 please?  Any advice etc.  Hoping to head there on Sat.  Looks like weather will be cold, but sunny.  Hoping to see the eagles and anything else.

Thanks in advance and good birding.

COOTES PARADISE IN DUNDAS

From Toronto drive west on the QEW until you come to the Y intersection in Burlington of the QEW and Hwy 403. Take Hwy 403 to the Main Street exit in Hamilton and drive right to Main Street West. Turn left on Main Street and drive past the McMaster University Medical Centre to Cootes Drive on the right. Drive down Cootes Drive to the bottom of the hill where the road crosses a small bridge, continue on to York Rd (the 1st lights), turn around here and drive back towards the bridge and park just short of this bridge. The beginning of the trail is across Cootes Drive This is an extensive marsh and there are several trails. If you cross the small bridge ( I believe this is no longer possible )  just down the trail and go to your left or right after crossing this same small bridge. this is a loop trail that will bring you back to where you started.

If you want to get across the creek walk back across the road bridge and go in that way as the foot bridge mentioned above may not be accessible.

Thanks for the directions to Coote's paradise.  My husband did not feel comfortable parking the car at the side of the busy road, so we headed towards Hamilton Harbour and went to Lasalle Park.   All the usual waterbirds reported earlier and we had a Pileated Woodpecker along the shore to the east on the boardwalk in the trees.  Next went to to the liftbridge under the Skyway (my husband's father worked on building it) and again all the usual waterbirds plus a eagle sitting out on the ice on the harbour side and the 2 Peregrines on the bridge.  Topped off with lunch at Hutch's, good day in all.  Great Birthday present!!!!!!

Good birding
