Not sure if this is a hoary or a common. Almost looks like a hoary to me:

I would say a Hoary due to the white band just above the tail and the short beak size.

I'll be examining my flock of redpolls more carefully to see if we have any Hoarys. Am thinking there is at least one that meets the criteria.

Nice shot and a good bird.  It looks very nice sitting on top of its perch with the snowflakes in the background. I still have yet to see my first hoary.  Maybe I'll be lucky and find one before the winter ends.
