Today, March 10th, around noon, we have 3 Barrows Goldeneye ducks here on Lovers Creek in the South of Barrie, off of Country Lane. These are not common around here. Seem to enjoy the security and comfort that the other hundred ducks and assorted Canadian Geese provide. We also had a gorgeous male Hooded Merganser stoppping by on the weekend.
Wish I had a camera with telephoto lens to show you all. Have to look at them through our binoculars only.

Things are a bit flooded out here so there's lots of water to swim within the flood plain. This area can be seem by the access to the naturalized area on Country lane just south of Esther Drive.

I just had a guy from the Breton Naturalists come by and correctly identified the ducks as three "Common" Goldeneyes. He was able to pick out the shape of the white patch on the side of their heads. The Barrows do occasionally come by this area though.
Still a wonderful sighting of three wonderful and not so common ducks.   Paul
