Grebe family in Humber Bay

The eared grebes have a family. Last night we saw the 4 babies and 2 parents near the "artifical islands" as you walk in front of the condo's just west of the Humber pedestrian bridge. Also, if you haven't seen them the wood ducks in the samll duck ponds in High Park [just south-west of the castle play area] have a big crop of ducklings again this year. Counted 14+ today

are the artificial islands just west of the "wildflower" fields? and is that where the grebes have been seen. i have been unable to find them after a couple of visits. maybe i am looking in the wrong place?

Yes, I'll post  a pic of them in my "park stroll shots" album in the gallery. Took it in late May on Humber Bay. Sorry I do not have any shots of the young ones but they must have nested nearby. Have not seen them for a week or two. [The artifical islands also boast a beaver family.... look for their lodge near the island just by the little bridge.]

As far as I can tell, Eared Grebes are "rare" or "accidental" around here.
