I got an email from someone in Streetsville that he had seen 3 wild turkeys foraging in his yard in Streetsville (Mississauga) last week...anyone else spotted wild turkeys in Mississauga? The closest I've seen them to the GTA was at the north east corner of Mississauga Rd. and King St.

Yeah, there are a lot of "turkeys" in Streetsville alright! and they've probably been drinking lots of "Wild Turkey" at one of the bars along Queen Street.

Axeman ... in answer to your question, No.  Have never seen any here in Mississauga.

I can definitely confirm that there are indeed Wild Turkeys in Mississauga... this morning, one was found in the Credit Woodlands area (Credit River, between Dundas and Burnhamthorpe Rd)

digijay ... this is interesting to know.   8)

I've seen lots of Turkey Vultures in that area but never any Wild Turkeys.  I was just in that area of Erindale Park yesterday afternoon too.

I personally haven't seen them, but I work for the City and Animal Control just responded to a call for a Turkey in someone's backyard...they found it picking away at the ground, looking for food.

They've had a lot of these calls lately.. people are scared of the size of them.

Would be interesting to see.  I will keep my eyes open for any Wild Turkeys in that area.

btw - what does Animal Control do in regard to these birds?

Saw 4 of them last Sat, not in Mississauga but on Halls Road.  Sometimes they can be aggresive but they are beautiful. :D

There was another call the other day... Turkey running around the intersection of Mavis and Centerview Drive.

If the Turkey isn't injured or causing harm to anyone, then they just leave it alone. they won't touch them unless they absolutely have to.

Jay ... Wow, right around the corner from my mom's house on Elora Dr.
Wouldn't surprise me if one or more of the Turkeys end up in her backyard!
