Hi all,
this morning was very pleasant at Colonel Sam Smith park (south of Kipling by the lakeshore). The male HOODED WARBLER previously reported put in a fabulous show, being very cooperative and singing tirelessly. It was seen on "the bowl", a shallow depression bordered by coniferous trees on the northeastern corner of the park (just south of Lakeshore Bld), and was still there singing when I left around 10am.
Other goodies included a brilliant Cape May, a male Black-throated Blue and 2 Black-throated Green Warblers, 1 Pam Warbler. The usual Yellow-rumped were numerous. At least 3 males Rose-breasted Grosbeak were also present. A LINCOLN'S SPARROW was seen very well, motionless in low branches.
2 Savannah and 2 White-crowned Sparrows, 1 Northern Mockingbird, 1 Brown Thrasher, 1 Gray Catbird, 1 Eastern Kingbird, 1 Veery, 1 Baltimore Oriole.
7 Common Loons...
Another birder has seen an Orchard Oriole, and apparently a Snowy Egret was present in the area.
Beautiful birding under a beautiful sun.
