Hi everyone.
Today at Freeport Hospital in Kitchener, a Mallard Hybrid (?) with 3 little babies. All 4 birds were in the courtyard area and trying to find their way to the other side of the hospital to the Grand River. Unfortunately, they were confused by all the glass windows and doors. Mom and babies kept hiding in shrubs when anyone tried to help out.
"Mom" (?) ... Mallard-size. At first glance, appeared to be black but at second glance, probably a very dark brown. No sign of green on the head, dark bill and bright white "bib" on the chest.
Babies ... black feathers, dark bill and small yellow/white patch on chest.
