Greetings

Arrived at the Falls at 7am Sunday morning and bumped into another photographer and a birder and found a single tri-colored heron feeding in the shallow fast running waters. It was about 25ft from shore and we all had great veiws of the heron. Then the other photographer spotted a second heron to the right of the first one and about 50ft out from shore. They would feed for an hour, chase each other around hopping from rock to rock and then fly to the U.S side were we lost sight of them. Half an hour later then would come back and do the same routine all over again. This went on all day. A very good day of shooting. Thanks to all the other birders and photographers that were there, I had a great time.

Good birding to all :D

Directions:

Once in Niagra Falls, drive along the Niagra Parkyway above the falls to Duffrin Island. Go to the south entrance and park, get there early for a spot but be careful where you park, you will get a ticket if parked in the wrong spots. Parking is free. Walk back to the Parkway towards the falls and look for the small GATE HOUSE Hydro building(less than a 5 min walk) Its just south of the much bigger old Toronto Hydro Building. There is a small parkette between these two buildings. Walk to the rivers edge and look for a single park bench closest to the smaller building. The herons are right infont of the bench having a feast of small fish.
