Yesterday, I saw a great blue heron fly over the DVP near Lawrence. I had a feeling that, today, I would see one on the Don River.
The heron didn't disappoint.
I was beside a pond just off of Beachwood and the Don River trail, when I saw a great blue heron standing perfectly still. We had the pleasure of watching him for 5 minutes before he flew away. Also watched a kingfisher fishing and diving for 10-15 minutes (a great thing to see), some baby wood ducklings, a woodpecker and an oriole.
Pictures will be posted later (my fiancee caught the heron in flight). Keep your eyes peeled on the Don River. seems like the herons and egrets are now fishing around there regularly.
