Weather was not conducive for outdoor activities on my recent holiday, so I hit the Biodome in Montreal. Very nice bird section(amongst other sections), was very pleased to see the Harlequin duck (I know it doesn't count as a first cos it was in captivity), along with Eiders, kittiwakes, guillemot and others. Lighting was too low for decent photography, so machine gun approach was used. At least a few came out acceptably. Welll worth popping in for a visit if you are in the vicinity.
It was fascinating watching the guiilemots swimming under the water and bottomg feeding (great viewing section both below and above waterline. It was surreal seeing the various waterfowl from beneath paddling away. Plus puffins, penguins, a plethora of other birds to see.
Have fun,
Graham
