Stock lense Strap Mod

Hey..

After getting home from Tiny Township today I decided I had had enough.:evil:

After years of discomfort I think I found an fix. It's kinda like the "R-strap" http://www.blackrapid.com/product/camera-strap/rs-4/

Works the same and is just as functional..

$ 7.00 of stuff from Home Hardware ."Eye bolt" 1/4-20 thread with lock nut, "Carabiner" and a double strap swivel thingy. The Swivel thingy allows the camera to slide up the strap..

Camera strap across body, camera sits at side or behind you.

note: the swivel is rated at 55 lbs
the Carabiner is rated at 165 lbs

I certainly hear you - it can get tiring carrying your equipment around and having quick access. Way to be creative.

i like it a lot.
i cant find a comfortable way to carry my 500,for any lenght of time,so if a lot of walking is envolved,i take the 300. this might work better,than the optek lens strap i just bought.

looks great,but they only show smaller lenses.i dont know that i,d want a 500,hanging like that,by the camera.too much weight. i think that a sling attached to the lens,or lens plate is the right idea.

OR: have you guys seen the bush hawk.it,s a gunstock design,with cable shutter release on the handle.so,basically like firing a gun,with shoulder rest,and 2 front handles.apparently very good for flight shots.

I bought one 3 years ago. great little unit. There is still and issue Carrying the bushawk plus camera and lense.

You also have to ensure you have the correct shutter release config on you camera..

For Nikon you have to have a the 10 pin shutter release built into the camera. (not sure about Canon). Bushawk sells the applicable cord for this.

My old Clunker won't work with the shutter release.. (I am playing with some new gear hopefully we can dust off the Bushawk)

yes they make the canon release,and the unit is only a couple of pds.seems like it would do the trick,once you get used to it.

Had to find the darn thing

this is the general arrangement

see the mounting plate below the lense . the shutter release cord is near the top under the lens.

That is a 170-500 Sigma another old clunker..
