i only took a handful of pictures yesterday and let my fiancee do most of the work.
our first walkaround and drivearound Presquile was fruitless. we found a few nice birders eating by the marsh and they told us the exact location of a barred owl that had attracted a lot of attention. we drove back into the park, went to the approximate area and somehow found this guy blended in with the trees.

this isn't my photo - my fiancee took it. none of mine have the streak of blood on the beak. she's asleep and i've edited this pic to post for you to see. if you appreciate her photos, you are welcome to check out her real photo work - www.sharp-photo.com .  shameless plug, i know.

and no, we weren't in the owl's face. this guy didn't seem to mind people whatsoever. he was awake the whole time and didn't seem to be bothered by our presence. he was about 15 feet up in a tree. this is an EXTREMELY close crop.

Great shot - looks like he's keeping a bit of an eye on what's going on.
