my fav pond today

walked over to my fav pond just now 20 minutes there quik recon and back  (2:10 pm to 2:30 pm)

1 gb heron
10 to 15 buffleheads
2 what looked like ruddy ducks (tail erect)
bunch of mallards
one nervous canada goose.



Ruddy duck and Buffleheads are firsts for me and the pond.

sorry too dark for the camera, nasty wind and rain. kind of muddy aswell,  I'll try again tomorrow.

I returned to my fav pond today. Again it was cold, windy and dark not ideal conditions..

Just as I arrived a "Redtail" popped up out of a tree overlooking the pond and made a pass over the Ducks at the far end. I think he/she was licking his chops trying to figure out a way to get one of them.

here are the photo's. sorry for the quality I was freezing, shaking more than usual (inner ear infection) and the heavy cloud cover didn't help.

please correct me if I am wrong . Redtail, Buffleheads, Ruddy Duck, and a form of Scaup..I am no Duck xpert.  Like I said yesterday these ducks have never been here before and they are new to me.
