My family and I made a very quik trip along the Niagara Parkway today.
We started at Lyons Creek rd. and headed South from there. I was getting a little concerned when for quite a while the only thing in the water were a three Common Mergansers at the water inlet (Welland River). After passing the legends on the Niagara golf course we started to notice many more waterfowl floating on thin ice in the middle of the river. Between The Golf course and Black creek we spotted nearly fifty "Tundra Swans" (Near shore), 4 Greater or Lesser Black backed gulls (amongst the hundreds of gulls floating in the river). Many Buffleheads right (near shore). From Black creek to the peace Bridge again an abundance of gulls and various Ducks and hundreds of Canada geese in the water and along both sides of the road. I am sure we missed many sightings but we had to be somewhere by a certain time. I'am pretty sure you could spend a whole day along the river and still miss sightings..
Another gentleman was doing the same as I, driving along and stopping at service rd entry's getting out and having a closer look, MASSIVE LENSE on his camera.
As for Port Colborne, the marshy pond at Cement rd was empty, Gravelly Bay had four Mute swans plus 2 black Scoter's (I think)..
At my parents feeder there were 6 junkos at one point.
I have posted to my gallery, I am still disecting the images
