Frog Eats Bird!!!

Has anyone seen this before?  Yesterday morning at Sandbanks Provincial Park I was attracted to splashing in the water.  I saw a small bird which I could not identify struggling to get out of the water.  It was waterlogged but seemed green - almost like a pet exotic bird.  Anyway, it managed to climb onto a small log when I noticed a very large bullfrog advancing rather quickly.  When it got close, it lunged and - with a tiny squeak from the bird - ate it!  I was in shock.  Didn't know they do that.

I've see the opposite -- bird eats frog -- but never a frog eating a bird. That's really cool.

How small was the bird? Humming bird sized? Sparrow sized?...

I've never seen a frog eat a bird, but they definitely will eat prey larger than flies.  I remember many (many) years ago as a kid we caught frogs and kept them in a washtub of water.  We were surprised and dismayed to discover that large bullfrogs would actually eat some of the smaller frogs.

Bullfrogs will grab many an unsuspecting duckling.
They are a voracious predator and will eat fish, crayfish, water beetles, snails, dragonfly's and larvae, small turtles, bats, duckings, garter snakes many birds and small mammals. and other frogs. The list goes on and on.
The short answer to this is “anything the Bullfrog can fit in its mouth.”

I once saw a frog eat another frog  close to his own size. I didnt see the catch but saw the legs dangling from its mouth, couldn't have been too comfortable.

How small was the bird? Humming bird sized? Sparrow sized?...

It was a small bird.  Seemed only about Goldfinch sized.  The frog was a bit smaller than a dinner plate.
