It was a wonderful day for birdind at the mouth of the Humber river. Long tail ducks were all over the place, red breasted mergansers begun mating displays while common ones look camly from the sidelines. I never saw so many buffleheads in one place. Obviously the malodorous river does not bother them. Further west there was a small raft of greater scaups mixed with red heads. Unfortunately the pair of ruddy ducks that was staying in the area for last few weeks disapeared.
Hooded mergansers, coots and wigeons are staying put.
