Good evening.
Today I decided to take a stroll through High Park along Sunnyside and over to Humber Bay Park and on such a beautiful day it was a pleasant stroll.
In High Park I found the Red-bellied Woodpecker along with 5 White-throated Sparrows at the corner of Spring Rd and Centre Rd
(Centre Rd runs east from the Grenadier Restaurant). You will get your years worth of Downy Woodpeckers here as well.
Sunnyside had the usual suspects but after crossing the footbridge at the mouth of the Humber River I found a Yellow-rumped Warbler. They seem to be everywhere this winter.
There are lots of waterfowl at Humber Bay Park, Coots, and lots of Shovelers but the nice find was the previously reported adult male Harlequin Duck off the north side of the eastern most point in Humber Bay Park East. The other one was also an adult male and I found it with a raft of Common Goldeneye
5 feet off shore at the north side of the western most point in Humber Bay Park West. If you go and try to find this one then approach the Goldeneye with caution as they are easily spooked and if they fly the Harlequin may go with them and be missed. I stood back and through a fence was able to get great looks at this bird.
There is also a Northern Shrike at Humber Bay Park
