Two days ago, i went for a walk along the Don River near Beechwood.

i heard two warblers calling to each other. i couldn't spot them and i don't know my warblers enough to ID the call. i would guess that they were yellow warblers (its the call i've heard most often and i've seen them with frequency along the Don in the spring).

also saw a beautiful GBH fishing near a BCNH off the river path.

saw some downy woodpeckers as well, which i haven't seen for a few months.

Yellow Warbler is uncommon in September. Most of the population is on its way to their winter grounds.

Cornell has a resource at http://macaulaylibrary.org with thousands of bird songs, available free on line.  You can browse warbler songs and perhaps solve your mystery bird!  It's organized by scientific name, but you can find those in your bird book.
