Bird Walk Sept 11 at Sam Smith Park

Glenn Coady will be leading a FREE Bird Walk at Colonel Sam Smith Park tomorrow (Saturday, September 11th), from 9:00 - 11:00.

Meet in the main parking lot (were the road ends) at 9:00 am.

The walk was fun, Leslie I wish I had introduced myself to you had I known you were there.
i had a couple of firsts too, especially the American Redstart! Glenn is very informative and full of great knowledge.

Okay, my firsts.
The grebes, obviously.  (For those who where not present, there were the anomalously resident red-necked grebes and a pied grebe, and we all got a good look at them.)
There were 2 semi-palmated plovers and I'm pretty sure I haven't seen those before.  (There was also a spotted sandpiper, which I have seen.)
I also saw the green heron and the sharp-shinned hawk.  (I have been present when other people saw both of these species and managed to look the other way just when it counted.  I really thought I was going to maintain my record when a fisherman flushed the green heron 2 people before my turn at the scope.)
