Question about Grenadier Pond

I know some of you check out High Park occasionally.  When I was a kid, row boats were rented there.  I now see that NO boats are allowed on the pond.  Anyone know when this happened?

Thanks!

David ... I believe it closed down somewhere around the late 80's, perhaps 1987 or 1988.  Do I ever miss going out in the middle of Grenadier Pond in a rowboat and having a picnic!  The boat rental place was so great!

Bummer.  My father used to take my sister and me fishing there as kids.  This was in the 60s.  We used to catch sunfish.

David  ,  Jo-Anne ,
I too have very fond memories of the Pond .
My father and I used to fish there in the late 50's . We packed all of our gear and lunch on the the motor cycle usually on a saturday early AM , caught our minnow bait across the road from Grenadier - at Catfish Pond then still fished with floats for crappy (we called them calico bass ), then returned home for a fish fry which tasted really terrific.
Remember the Star fishing derby.

David and Jim.  When I was a kid, late 60's/early 70's, I remember going to High Park and seeing lots of fishermen on the large dock.  On Sundays (?), there were singers, bands and orchestras performing on this dock and people would be sitting on the hillside enjoying the music, watching the "red train" go by, etc.
