Thanks everyone. The Cooper's hawk had just caught and eaten a Blue Jay but didn't appear to have anything in its talons that I saw.

Thanks. I frequently have a Cooper's Hawk in a spruce not far from my bird feeder. He (she) has a different idea of  the purpose of the feeder. Blue Jays seem to be the usual prey and I even took a video of the bird having his meal with squirrels unconcernedly gathering nesting materials mere feet away
