Last week my daughter and I saw what we thought was an owl fly overhead as we were driving down our road in the evening.  Very exciting as we haven't seen many.  Couldn't identify as it happened so quickly.   Yesterday morning, as  we walking the dog saw something lifeless on the road.  To my overwhelming dismay, an owl we believe was a barred owl.  It looked as it was clipped by a car, pretty much in the same area we saw previously.

Finally get to see one and then see it dead within the same week.  Sigh...  Then someone told us his mother hit and killed a Great Gray Owl that was in the neighbourhood a few years ago.  So depressing.

Pretty unfortunate. Owls seem very prone to this for some reason.
