While sitting having my lunch today, I saw 3 Red-winged Blackbirds, 11 European Starlings, 7 Squirrels, 4 Dark-eyed Juncos, 3 Rock Pigeons, a Downy Woodpecker, a Black-capped Chickadee, and a lot more House Sparrows than normal.  Hardly a thing yesterday.

last week, i drove home to see 30 starlings grazing/pecking my neighbour's tiny patch of front lawn. the entire lawn was covered by them. they weren't startled by me or my car and eventually all flew of in the synchronized, cloned manner that i love about starlings.

there is a flock of approx 1,000 starlings and this number fluctuates between several hundred and well over 1,000 that fly around my house in the north etobicoke HWY #27 & Humber College area, I am confident this flock are the primary one in our vicinity and they split and its an amazing thing to witness.

Last summer, late , they landed in our back yard under the feeder and we could not see a square inch of grass, it was all black and as they took off the sky turned dark

I frequently see a flock along Hwy #27 ranging from West humber blvd and at the Rexdale blvd area too.
