Not sure New Liskeard counts as southern Ontario, but we don't have a northern Ontario section.
Anyway, we are up here for the Easter weekend. Didn't plan on doing any birdwatching (it's better later in the spring), but we ended up seeing lots of birds anyway. The highlight was a pair of sandhill cranes feeding on a farmer's field. This is the first time we've seen them in Ontario. They stayed for quite a long time, so we had some nice looks.
We've also been watching plenty of American tree sparrows, white-throats, juncos, robins, a red-breasted nuthatch, some redpolls (can't tell which kind), grackles, crows, ravens, and a red-tailed hawk. A snowshoe hare just turning colour loped by the house this morning (just in time for Easter) and a red squirrel has also been dashing about.
