Last night while enjoying dinner I was surprised to look out and see a Brown Thrasher pecking in to the ground for a worm or bug. Never seen one in the yard before. He hung around for over 2 hours drifting between our yard and the neighbour's yard. When spooked he would return to the neighbour's apple tree. He gave me the impression that he was fully aware of his surroundings and possibly had been around for a few days. I sat and watched for him this morning and then again tonight but came up empty. Oh well it was fun while it lasted. Oh, did I mention that I couldn't get a single good photo of him, they're terrific skulkers for their size.
When I went out this morning to look for the Thrasher there was a male Baltimore Oriole singing his heart out in a tree at the back of the yard.
