Point Pelee... first trip for us and Wow!

Angie and I did a trip to Point Pelee from May 9th to the 11th and wow!  I won't go over the whole list  but it was great for us with 65 species in one day (all of which we had visuals of).  This list includes 18 Warbler species for that day.

The highlights were Blackburnian (the one bird I hoped to see), Cerulean Warbler (now I know what the fuss is about with this guy), Northern Parula, Prothonotary Warbler, Tennesse Warbler, and lastly a Black-throated Blue Warbler who put on quite a show for us with a few minutes of bathing time.

We went the same time last year and were equally thrilled. Our highlights were a misplaced Summer Tanager and a Yellow-Breasted Chat (not to mention blue spotted skinks!). At one point we were down near the beach at the end of the point and a flock of about 50 blue jays came in and I just remember thinking, "This is ridiculous!" Where else can you see that?

I just got back from 4 days at Pelee and I agree.
While Pelee "veterans" were saying that things were slow, I was quite pleased with the quality of birds that we did see, including the Cerulean that cause quite the frenzy.
