How awefull!
I know exactly how you feel, I lost all my gear as well in the winter time. But mine involved me going into the frozen creek with it.  :roll:
You might luck out and find it can be repaired.

Thanks Meghan and Walter.  The camera survived (yeah!) and the lens is at Sun Camera now.  The damage is relatively minor in the world of camera money  I have a loaner from a nice friend and am back out there.  I think I will have the camera around my neck from now on, even though it's on a tripod!!

Thanks guys - I wish it was me that went in the pond - a quick shower and a load of laundry and it would have been done  Should have the lens back in a couple of days.
