I visited Amhurst Island on Dec 28th and could only find 1 snowy owl, located on the large property on the east end of the Island. I was told of another, not far away but could not located it. Other raptors included a nice dark phased roughed leg hawk, as well as several light phase, Kestrals and Red Tailed Hawks. They were also male and female Harriers on the island. At my cottage outside of Picton in the water between South Marysburgh and Waupoos Island, namely Smiths Bay, we had 5 Bald Eagles. They sit on the ice edge while in the water hundreds of Red Breated Merganser fished. Also in the area was 1 double crested cormorant, several Black Back Gulls, as well as Buffleheads, Long tails and a few golden eyes.
