Today we saw a Merlin at Colonel Sam Smith park hungrily watching the backyard feeders from a Spruce tree. The first Merlin of the year for us. The Common Loon in winter colours is also back fishing the inner harbour.

A blustery day at Sam's today! My list was not as long as yours but I will add a young Northern Shrike and a Red-necked Grebe showing off his red spring plumage. Would like to have found the Merlin, the Loon or the Shoveler -  haven't seen these since last summer.
