Hi everyone.  I was wandering around Maplewood Park this afternoon between 12:30-2:00pm and sighted the following:

Brown-headed Cowbird x 1 (male)
Cardinals x 3 (2m, 1f)

Cooper's Hawks x 2 - female sitting quietly in nest, male flying silently through the woods then was sitting on top of lamp post but not eating anything - then he flew to the nest and was perched on the edge for a few minutes - then off flying through the woods again.  Active guy!

House Sparrows
Red-breasted Nuthatch x 1 (male)
Robins
Ruby-crowned Kinglet x 1 (female?)

Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers x 3 (1m, 2f) - all 3 were chasing each other in circles around tree trunk right in front of my face!  Got such a great look at them, especially the beautiful red throat of the male.  :D

Other:  50+ Red Admiral butterflies, 1 Cabbage White butterfly and 1 very cute Cottontail Rabbit.   Also, White trillium flowers are making an appearance this week!

Maplewood Park:  East side of Glen Erin Dr., just North of Aquitaine Ave.

Hi Jo-Anne

Check the Maplewood gallery for Monday 16th.  I shot what I think you said were the Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers. Not good clarity in the pics, but I think identifyable.  Please confirm.  The pics are nere hte end of the gallery.

Hi Bob.  Yes, the one on the left is the male (with red throat) and female is on the right.  :)
