We walked through Earl Bales Park to the new storm-water control ponds. We saw 29 species. Highlights were: a singing male Indigo Bunting; 1 singing Wood Thrush; and 3 Spotted Sandpipers and 1 Kildeer at the ponds. These ponds are new and as they get more established I think they'll be another source for shorebirds and waders.

Earl Bales is located in the Bathurst/Sheppard area. To reach the ponds: Go east of Bathurst on Sheppard. The first right off Sheppard is Don River Road. Follow it down to the parking lot. Walk south on the paved trail and you will come to the ponds. I'm not good on distances, but it is 1-2 km from the parking lot.
