I found this bug on a window screen this afternoon.  It doesn't look like anything I've ever seen before.



Any ideas?

I wood amagin it s from the stick bug famaly(Phasmida) (ther are 3,000 species of stick insect in the world) !! But ya I have never seen one like this ?? ther usauly long with out the part at the head ! :shock:

That's a plume moth, although I don't know which one in particular.

Thanks Marnie, you're right!

The moth family was not near the top of my guess list, but that's what it is.  

It's in the family Pterophoridae.  The things sticking out the side of its head are wings.

"Moth" doesn't really spring to mind when you see that shape, does it? I learned about these guys last year when I found one in my garden.
