Canadian big year?

I got to thinking the other day... of course it was spurred by the Big Year movie. Is there a Canadian record for species seen in a year.? I know the Ontario record, for the time being , stands at 338. I figured there must be a Canadian record somewhere, but I couldn't find it... at least after a cursory search.

The top annual total for Canada that has been reported to the ABA is 345, which appears to have been done entirely in BC since that is also the annual high for BC.  The top annual Ontario list is 288.  Others not reported to ABA may be higher, such as the 338 you refer to.

The current top number of species in eBird for Canada 2012 is 384.

And for Ontario it is 342.

Be careful with eBird numbers.  If someone sees a Budgie or an Orange Bishop in Canada, they are properly identified, but by ABA "Big Year" rules are not countable birds.

Josh Vandermeulen's 342 for Ontario is correct and a new Ontario record per his own website.

my big Canada year was 1995 i saw 319 speshes witch is 48% of the population . Jerry Pilny of Calgary had 409 61% in 2007

There seems to be a different set of birders reporting to that site compared to e-Bird. I could only find one name on both sites for the Ontario life list.
