a double owl day!
The GHO took some work, but me and another birder found him looking lovingly at the toronto skyline.

The LEO was pretty funny. i was walking back after spending 4 hrs at the Spit. there was a group of 30 or so walkers who had stopped on the path and were staring at a tree that was not far from two main paths (i.e. a crazy-high traffic area). Guess some silly LEO thought the tree would make a great roost. didn't seem to care that cross country skiiers were shooshing by 20 feet away.  he also didn't mind the noisy crowd. the moral of the story? sometimes you look hard to find something and come up empty handed. other times, that damn thing is right under your nose in the most inconspicuous of locations.

I know what you mean. I have been standing right under roosting owls before realising that they are there. Great photos.

That's awesome about the LEO!  One of my fave Owls.  And one I've yet to see this season.

A birth certificate shows we were born.  A death certificate shows we died.  Pictures show we live.
