Last Saturday, at around 2pm this hungry Mink, which I now understand is a member of the Weasel family was hunting muskrats in a swamp on the edge of Mississauga.  Quite the drama unfolded before our lens, one full of danger and intrigue for the muskrats.  Checkout our blog posting: http://frametoframe.ca/weasel-hunts-mus ... rio-swamp/

Cool blog.   8)

Is that a weasel or a mink?   :?

Please consider reporting your turtle sightings to the following (if you don't already) ... http://www.torontozoo.com/AdoptAPond/TurtleTally.asp#
Thanks!  :D

Your fur ones are mink, not weasels ,which do look alot alike but weasels are alot smaller and do not tend to come out during the day. Mink are very abundant around the area now and were probably looking to make the muskrat hole a home not hunting muskrats. Mink prefer fish and duck eggs, even know to raid chicken coops ..... they are meat eaters but very doubtful they would try to take a muskrat. They are probably going thru their spring change of coat and the white patches on chin may not be as visible as in other times

Thanks for your input everyone.  We did a little further investigation, and indeed it was a Mink not a Weasel.  Thanks for your input.
