After seeing two of his buddies taking off down the side of the field I was crossing, I came around a bush to see this...
after a few shots he took off but turned back after about 10 yards for a few more shots.

My girl friend suggested he may have been tagged which somehow got ripped off producing the hole.
When I blow up the original photo I believe that it is just dirt on the side of his face.
