For almost three weeks I have been watching a pair of Killdeer bringing up two chicks around 108 Ormont Drive in Toronto (
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=108+Ormo ... a&t=m&z=16). One of the parents stand there all day long while the chicks move around foraging. It is a heavily industrialized area with big trucks going back and forth. Amidst this industrial jungle nature finds a little oasis. Last week I saw a pair of mocking birds bringing up their chicks at the same location. Occasionally Killdeer chases the mocking bird away and the mocking bird does the same to a flock of starlings. It's all played out there in broad day light. Last Friday I saw a groundhog coming out in the sun, the mocking birds immediately started harassing him. I took a few pictures of both pair and their respective chicks, I'll post them at a convenient time.
