Celestron Travel Scope 50

I am having increasing difficulty using binoculars and, on checking my credit card Rewards points, I discovered that I have sufficient points to procure the Celestron 50 Travel Scope.  I am wondering if any of you fellow birdwatchers have had experience with this scope and what your opinions are; thanks!

I have never actually seen one, but I wouldn't expect a scope retailing for $60 (including tripod) to be much more than a toy.  However, if you're feeling handy, I noticed someone has posted instructions for improving its optical quality:  http://scopeviews.co.uk/CelestronTravelscope50.htm

You would probably have better luck with a used Bushnell Spacemaster.  There are a lot more (and more expensive) options today, but 20 years ago the Spacemaster was the most common scope for birding (in Ontario at least).  They won't compare with something like a Swarovski, but they were pretty good optics for the money.
