Sandhill Cranes spotted in the Kawarthas
on:
August 18, 2013, 10:16:28 PM
While returning from 4 mile lake looking for Loons to photograph I thought I saw a pair of sandhill Cranes fly over the road I was on. The next morning I returned once again to the area and while driving spotted some wild turkeys in a farmers field and then once again spotted and confirmed my sightings from the night before. I found my way into the field to get a closer look and got the following pictures. Taken just outside of the Hamlet of Burnt River
Wild Turkeys running for cover
The sandhill Cranes alone and not leaving dispite my presence
Taking flight

Nice 'action' sequence into flight. I also like the closer pic of the Sandhill Crane who appears to being doing the 'goose step'.
Very nice cosmo.
