On my way to ABB at noon today I stopped to watch the Ravens for a bit as they flew in and out of their nest and guarded it against a Peregrine that did several fly pasts at speed. Then went in past the Unwin Bridge up to the marina to check the little bay area. A very vocal Phoebe along the shore hopping from shrub to shrub and a Mockingbird high atop a tree. I saw Leon at the edge of the Wet Woods - he had seen 36 species in there this morning including a Pine Warbler, Towhee and Fox Sparrows, and while we were talking a Kingfisher flew over us chattering away. Leon decided to join me for a trip to ABB where we saw a few more species for one or the other of us - Winter Wrens, a Flicker, GC Kinglets which now seem to be everywhere, and also 4 Pied-billed Grebes, 1 male Horned Grebe and Red-necked Grebes. Several White-winged Scoters are still in the marina as are the Ring-necked Ducks. 3 Iceland gulls as well Certainly isn't warm out, but the birds are slowly showing up.
