Walk the path west of Thickson's Woods this morning at dawn, and was able to observe 3 Short-eared Owls in the fields near Thickson's Point. Both male and female Harriers were seen btwn dawn and about 10am.
Around 10am I watched a Northern Shrike for about 1/2 hr, at times quite close to the paved pathway.
The remains of 1 freshly-killed rabbit and the left over fur of another were seen along the pathway and trails.
In Thickson's Woods, the trails and laneway are still ice covered and very slippery. I would not suggest anyone parking in the laneway unless you actually see asphalt. Hopefully the ice will all melt off in the next few days.
Both GHO's were seen in the woods near the sightings-box, and one dead Coopers Hawk was found about 30ft east of the box.
Directions: Exit the 401 at Thickson's Road, proceed south and watch for the sign on the left.
