Just came back from visiting PEI - a lovely Island celebrating 150th anniversary of the confederation. Due to plenty of red and white sand beaches there's opportunity of seeing many shorebirds this time of the year. In between sight-seeing and driving I managed to get a few pictures of the birds in the Island. I saw Northern Gannet, Semipalmated Plover, various sandpipers, Yellowlegs, Great black-backed Gull, Bonaparte's Gull, Ospreys, GBH, crows and blue jays. It seemed to me that there were more crows in the Island than there are people. A few I already posted in the Bird ID section; here's a few more - all in all 3 lifers for me during this short visit.
1. A flock of sandpipers
2. A flock of crows - they are everywhere in the Island.
3. Great Black-backed Gull
4. Flock of Ruddy Turnstone
5. Herring Gull
6. An Osprey with a fish that's almost half of its size. I saw him diving and then taking some effort and time to get up in the air.
7. A Semipalmated Plover - they are found in hundreds
8. Lesser Yellowlegs and Ruddy Turnstone. Note sure what the Turnstone was turning among sea weeds
9. Last, but not the least - A Least Sandpiper
