Hey

My Daughter pulled a good one on me this afternoon. Dad can you return these movies for me, I have to go to work and I won't make it on time if I drop them

off.. My wife is at work so NO Car.. I don my ski jacket and Gloves hoody  and head off for the 10 minute walk..

The wind is piercing my face like a drill as I walk and what do I find at the end of my street in a Crabapple tree...  "A Robin"

I start talking to the Robin like it's gonna understand me.. It seems unaffected by the wind or the cold, unlike me..  If it hadn't made a sound I would have

walked right by it.. Should I be surprised :?: about seeing one here (Milton)in January..

Other wise a slow birding day at the feeders.. Earlier today I did a 1 1/2 hour drive around some of the country roads near town all I could come up with was 1 redtail

a couple of Chickadees... I'll keep an eye out for our lone Robin..

No you shouldn't be surprised by a Robin in January. They can readily be found in the winter where berry crops are present.  In  Durham region they can be found along audley road in north Ajax, Oshawa Creek valley, ghost road woods at the second marsh, Darlington p. p., etc. Find berries like buckthorns and Robins and the odd Hermit thrush may be present.
