Aperture priority mode

Hello,

I cannot use autofocus when using the aperture priority mode on my Canon T3i. Is this normal? I have a 100-400mm lens. I have heard that most bird photographers use aperture priority mode when shooting, to isolate the bird against the background. But without autofocus it is a challenge...I have been using the "action" or sports setting for most my pics now.

Thanks!

Tobias

Did you or someone set the custom function to use the rear AF button instead?
If not, then there's either something wrong with the camera or the lens, I'd lean towards the camera.

Thanks for the reply,

The autofocus works fine in the "action" mode, but not aperture priority mode. If I wanted to have my camera looked at, would you recommend a specific shop in the GTA?
