I'll be travelling for business to Winnipeg but I will have a short window in the morning for maybe 1 or 2 hours to do a bit of birding.

Mostly I'd like to see the:
- Black-billed Magpie
-Gray Partridge
- anything else that can only be seen in Winnipeg and not Toronto?

What parks are my best bet?  My hotel is in the downtown area near York Ave and Edmonton St and ideally don't want to cab it too far.  I only have a very short window in the morning.  Any advice is welcome.  Thank you.

If you use eBird Canada to report sightings you can log in and select Explore Data, then select Target Species and search for any recent sightings in that area. I did one for Winnipeg area of Great Gray Owls, you can see where the sightins are as the tear drop shows blue on the map I attached. If your not a member its free to join and one of the best tools for searching for birds there is. Click on the blue tear drop and it will show you a checklist, click that and you will see the birds found. On the top of that page click map to see where it was seen.

Thanks Paul, I do use ebird and did a search on my 2 target species.  It's just that sometimes ebird doesn't always give a complete picture.  For example both species seem rather common and sometimes people don't always feel like reporting common species.  So I was looking more for anecdotal advice.  Thanks for the tip on the Great Gray Owl...fortunately I've already seen one in Brooklin, Ontario.
