Coopers or a Sharpie

I'm guessing this is a Coopers Hawk but its a guess . Could someone tell me which it is and maybe why , I always have trouble with these two birds . No idea what kind of bird its got .

Yes, Cooper's. Rounded tail and capped (not hooded) look.

Thank you for confirming . I read in sibleys about the cap thats why I guessed coopers .

Perfect image to display what I tried to describe.
Coopers Hawks tail feathers are the Key!! Outermost tail feathers are shorter and when folded you see them sequentially shorter to longer looking from front.

Capped! yes
This adult does not have it's "hackles raised". Adults have Red eyes and cinnamon breast colors.
Thick legs Tarsi, White undertail cover(t)s

I do not subscribe in the rounded tail thingy.


Sharp Shinned hawks are much much  smaller birds with buggy eyes, barrel shaped upper chest tapering to the end of body. Tail feathers same length when folded  looking from front.
