The Harlequin Duck first reported on Friday was showing well this morning near the gazebo. Apparently it moves around a lot, and was difficult to locate yesterday. Most reports seem to be in the area of Humber Bay West, but it was also seen in early afternoon yesterday at Humber Bay East (unless of course there is a second bird  :P ). Hopefully while the bay remains ice-free, it will linger in the area awhile longer. So, to reach this gazebo, there is parking on Superior Avenue just south of Lakeshore, west of the entrance to Humber Bay Park West. From there it is only a five minute walk along the trail to the gazebo. When I first located it today, it was sleeping with a group of Redhead. This makes me wonder if the morning is a good time to look for it in this location. Eventually it went off on its own and then flew out of sight heading west around noon.  -Kris

Very nice. I somehow missed it during my visit there on Saturday afternoon; however, Elias photographed it snoozing among other ducks far out. As you said morning might be better to see it around the gazebo.

I'm getting the impression from eBird reports that this bird is generally easier to find in the morning. My one attempt in the afternoon was unsuccessful.

Harlequin is still hanging around. We were there late yesterday afternoon and it was east of the gazebo.
