Today I had 4 Goldfinches and a Pine Siskin visit my finch feeders.  Actually the Siskin visited twice...that I saw anyway.  Wonderful to see after a long winter of 0 finches at those feeders!  When I did have Goldfinches visit the yard over the winter they preferred to eat the seeds from the native wildflowers instead of the nyjer seed.  That was a good thing!

Good birding,
Walter :)

Cool!

That's kinda funny I was gonna post  about hearing Pine Siskins here in Milton on Friday.

I thought I was hearing a mimick.

The bird(s) are still here today near my feeder with a group of Gold Finches.

Napper :D

p.s. Spotted a Merlin flying over my yard in Milton a couple days ago. Not a common sighting for here.

I've had Pine Siskins at the feeder 5 days in a row now. That's pretty unusual. I have also heard them during that period when out doing yard work. Maybe they are going to nest nearby?

An update to my original post...

Two Siskins for 5 days straight now.  Great to see that my new finch feeder setup is working just fine.  I've had 2 Goldfinches for several days but they prefer to eat black oil sunflower seeds instead.

Good birding,
Walter :)

Today while taking a short break from gardening I had the two Pine Siskins fly in and land on the nyjer feeders.  Great to see as they weren't around over the weekend.....actually neither was I.

Good birding,
Walter :)
